La obra de WangShui explora las estructuras de la percepción humana. A través de una amplia gama de medios que incluyen video, escultura, pintura e instalación, examina los bucles psicosomáticos que crean nuestra experiencia del mundo. La variada práctica del artistx busca integrar experiencias personales y de investigación, que indagan en el trauma, la arquitectura y la tecnología. Un tema central en su obra es la liminalidad y su potencial radical como una forma de resistencia. WangShui suele abordar el espacio latente de imágenes y materiales, como una manera de activar estados alucinatorios entre el detalle y la distancia, la transparencia y la opacidad, entre saber y no saber.
WangShui obtuvo un BA en Práctica Artística y Antropología Social por UC Berkeley y un MFA en Film y Video en Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College. Su obra ha sido mostrada en la Whitney Biennial, NY (2022); Biennale de Lyon, Francia (2022); Hammer Museum, LA; Hessel Museum of Art, NY; SculptureCenter, NY; JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION, Alemania; Tai Kwun Contemporary, Hong Kong; The Shed, NY; New York Film Festival; Rotterdam International Film Festival, Países Bajos; Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC), NY; entre otros.
