The work of Gabriel Orozco and the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach are similar in several ways. The art of the fugue -tendency that both follow- escapes any definition. Orozco's work is a continuous learning process, a fine-tuning of ideas and processes that, woven in his mind, move in search of answers. Bach knew everything and knew nothing, he listened to silence and filled it with meaning. Both artists refine a technique which finds stability in constant change, being capable of generating astonishment or rejection, almost always misunderstood and rarely deepened.
