To accompany Petrit Halilaj: Abetare (Noisy Classroom), the artist has invited Albanian curator Eriola Pira to program a series of three workshops during the run of the exhibition (September 14, September 28, and October 19, each starting at 3:30 pm), activating the gallery classroom as an experiential space for engaging with and embodying the Albanian language. Through aural, oral, and movement-based activities, participants of all ages are invited to recreate and experience formative learning memories from Halilaj and Pira’s childhoods in Kosovo and Albania. Both living in the diaspora, this collaboration pays respect to the role Albanian intellectuals and artists in the diaspora have played in the establishment, pratice, and resistance of the Albanian language throughout history.
Soundscapes
On September 14, Pira leads the first session, Soundscapes, delving into the aural aspects of the Albanian language. This workshop invites participants immerse themselves in the distinctive sounds and rhythms of the language through guided listening exercises and vocal repetition of the Albanian alphabet and phrases. Participants will engage with Albanian storytelling and poetry, experiencing the language’s musicality and emotional resonance.
Shqiptima
The second workshop—on September 28, led by Arian Gjikola and Aleksa Varriano—guides participants in vocal exercises to mimic the sounds and intonations of the Albanian language, enhancing pronunciation and oral expression.

Në shoqërim të ekspozitës, Halilaj ka ftuar kuratoren shqiptare Eriola Pira që të programojë tri punëtori paralele (14 shtator, 28 shtator dhe 19 tetor; secila fillon në 15:30), ku klasa e galerisë të aktivizohet si hapësirë eksperimentale, për të mundësuar përfshirjen në gjuhën shqipe dhe trupëzimin e saj. Nëpërmjet veprimtarive dëgjimore, gojore dhe të bazuara në lëvizje, pjesëmarrësit ftohen të rikrijojnë dhe përjetojnë kujtime formuese nga arsimimi i Halilajt dhe Pirës në Kosovë dhe Shqipëri. Tani që dy jetojnë jashtë atdheut, ky bashkëpunim është edhe homazh ndaj rolit që kanë luajtur intelektualët dhe artistët shqiptarë të diasporës në themelimin, praktikën dhe rezistencën gjuhësore të shqipes gjatë historisë.
Më 14 shtator, Pira drejton sesionin e parë, Soundscapes, duke u thelluar në anën dëgjimore të shqipes. Ky seminar i fton pjesëmarrësit të zhyten në tingujt dhe ritmet specifike të gjuhës nëpërmjet ushtrimeve të dëgjimit të udhëzuar dhe përsëritjes zanore të alfabetit dhe të frazave shqip. Pjesëmarrësit do të njihen me rrëfimtarinë dhe poezinë shqipe, duke përjetuar muzikalitetin dhe rezonancën emocionale të gjuhës.
