Lost & Found

kurimanzutto is pleased to present Lost & Found, an exhibition of Daniel Guzmán’s recent artwork created around a text by Robert Walser, The Díaz woods, and an image by Narcisse Virgile Díaz de la Peña, Barbizon woods.

A text and an image in the newspaper gave meaning and direction to the series of works and ideas that Daniel Guzmán presents in this exhibition, spanning almost five years of labor.

In the middle of “provisional woods”, Lost & Found is a crossroads, a personal recapitulation of new and old ventures into the field of sculpture. Based on a variety of simple materials, like plastic, paint, stones, plasticine, ironwork, and false jewelry, Guzmán uses the detritus of the urban landscape to create pieces that give shape to a personal and intimate territory in which it is absolutely natural for one to get lost and to find oneself.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual book, (Spanish-English), the first foreign publication ever on Daniel Guzmán’s work. The book was designed by the artist himself, together with Deborah Littlejohn and Santiago Piedrahit. This edition of 1500 books was published by Editorial KM and Eungie Joo and was printed in the United States.
