kurimanzutto's booth for Art Basel 2024 (N12) focuses on significant pieces by our gallery artists who often work with political, social and poetic concerns. Basing their practice within a strongly conceptual rubric, form follows concept as they employ media ranging from combinations of ready-made materials, found objects and images. While our roster mainly represents Latin American artists, in recent years it has grown to include many artists from Asia and Eastern Europe with recurring concerns and aesthetics, enabling conversations between the local and the international and across varied layers of meaning. This year we will be presenting a selection of works by:
Abraham Cruzvillegas
Adrián Villar Rojas
Ana Segovia
Bárbara Sánchez-Kane
Damián Ortega
Felipe Baeza
Gabriel Orozco
Haegue Yang
Allora & Calzadilla
John Giorno
Leonor Antunes
Marta Minujín
Nairy Baghramian

Ana Segovia | special kabinett
The Golden Age of Mexican cinema (1936-1956) profoundly shaped Mexican identity, promoting rigid gender, class, and racial stereotypes that led to violence. Stills from this era inspired the artworks by Ana Segovia that are on show at Kabinett, Art Basel 2024: the presentation features human figures and fragments, emphasizing gestures through painting. Despite having minimal facial features, his characters convey vivid emotions. The dominant purple palette nods to cinema’s day for night technique, simulating night scenes in daylight. These images articulate tensions and desires.
Segovia is showcasing a similar series at the 2024 Venice Biennale, coinciding with Art Basel.
