Balada de un hablador is the first play co-written and directed by Miguel Calderón to be presented at Pabellón Escénico, Jardín Escénico, from November 27 to December 6, 2025.
Drawing on his experience in cinema and the visual arts, the artist will bring a unique perspective to the stage in a piece that pushes the boundaries of theatrical performance. Theatricality is a recurring theme in his work, blurring the line between reality and fiction. Calderón highlights the complexity of the human condition, skilfully intertwining humour, social criticism and emotion. Drawing on vernacular references, he employs various media, including film, video, photography, sculpture and painting.
Synopsis:
Juan, a young lawyer, uncovers a web of guilt, secrets, and repressed emotions while dealing with his mother's death in therapy. Through a blend of corrosive humour and psychological tension, the staging reveals how the unconscious manifests in everyday life, propelling the characters towards their inevitable fate. Throughout this four-act comedy, we explore family ties and the limits of desire.
