Marta Minujín’s Sculpture of Dreams will be installed in the outdoor courtyard of the National Museum of Qatar as part of the LATINOAMERICANO exhibition. Originally unveiled in Times Square, New York, this large-scale installation is composed of 16 inflated, amorphous forms that create a fantastical tunnel through which visitors are invited to pass. Immersed in a vibrant swirl of colors, audiences are encouraged to whisper their wishes and dreams into the structure as they walk through it, transforming the act of viewing into a participatory ritual. For the artist, these mattresses symbolized the intimate connection between objects and lived human experience.

As part of LATINOAMERICANO, Minujín’s work contributes to the exhibition’s larger exploration: how can an entire continent be represented through a constellation of visual expressions? Departing from fixed geographies and temporalities, the show offers a multi-layered view of Latin America, encompassing its natural landscapes, urban evolutions, identity multiplicity, deep social tensions, and artistic resistance. Featuring more than 170 works—including painting, photography, film, sculpture, textile, installation, popular art, and archival material—the exhibition maps out the many voices and visions that have shaped Latin American art from 1900 to the present.
