The exhibition explores the life and work of poet John Giorno. It´s inspired by the theme of the 2025 edition of miart, among friends - presents the colourful Perfect Flowers, the revolutionary Dial-a-poem installation and more than one hundred posters, private correspondence documents, archive footage and original flyers relating to public poetry events, illustrating the universe built by John Giorno: a world in which verses and words explode on walls, enter people's homes, invade space with overwhelming force and make poetry accessible to all.
John Giorno´s career took a turn in 1962 when he met Warhol and began the fusion of poetry, visual art, and music that marked his artistic career. With The American Book of the Dead (1964), he reinterpreted poetry in a postmodern key and supported artists, poets, and musicians with the organisation Giorno Poetry Systems. He also creates pictorial works in which the word becomes an image, in a sensory experience that goes beyond written language.
