kurimanzutto announces its 2009 programme of activities, starting with an individual project by Gabriel Orozco produced expressly for the new gallery space, a few months before inaugurating his widest retrospective at New York’s Modern Art Museum next December.

In June will be presented My Generation, an exhibition curated by Daniel Guzmán, in which he revises the medium of drawing through the work of a series of artists that have been influential or evolved with him. In September, Dr. Lakra will carry out his first solo show at the gallery and launch his drawing book Health and Efficiency, published in collaboration with RM. To close the exhibitions of 2009 at kurimanzutto, Jimmie Durham will show a series of works he has developed in Mexico City over the last two years.

Among the international solo shows, Pierres rejetées by Jimmie Durham is exhibited at Museum of Modern Art in Paris, and S.COOP by Minerva Cuevas is the most recent commission from The Street series at Whitechapel Gallery in London. In September, the ICA Boston will show a survey of the last 15 years in the work of Damián Ortega; meanwhile Abraham Cruzvillegas will develop a project Red Cat in Los Angeles along with a publication that summarizes an overview of his work. In October, Carlos Amorales will present new works at Fridericianum Museum in Kassel, Germany.

Abraham Cruzvillegas and Carlos Amorales have been invited to X Havana Biennial and San Juan’s Trienal Poli/ Gráfica in Puerto Rico, in which Dr. Lakra, Gabriel Kuri and Jonathan Hernández participate too. Monika Sosnowska is presented at elles@centrepompidou, a show that joins the works of the female artists that are part of this institution’s permanent collection. In late 2009, Abraham Cruzvillegas will be an artist-in-residence at CCA Wattis in San Francisco.
